Juventus are reportedly eyeing a new No. 9 for next summer, with Jonathan David of LOSC Lille on their radar. However, the Italian club could face a significant challenge in securing the Canadian striker, potentially pushing them out of the race.

A journalist has warned that Juventus will need to contend with two rival teams if they are to land David. According to TuttoJuve from November, the 24-year-old has made his financial expectations clear ahead of a potential free-agent move.

David is said to be demanding €6 million per season, along with a €10 million commission for his agent. These substantial demands could complicate a move to Juventus, opening the door for Premier League clubs to step in.

Since joining Lille in 2020, David has scored 101 goals in 209 appearances across all competitions. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United have also been linked with the forward.

Could Juventus be out of the running for Jonathan David?

This upcoming week, David will be free to negotiate with any club of his choice and sign a new contract. Despite repeatedly expressing his love for Barcelona, the Canadian striker, who is LOSC's all-time top scorer, doesn’t seem willing to extend his stay at the club.

With 17 goals and four assists in 26 appearances this season, the 24-year-old has reportedly caught the eye of another European giant. TuttoJuve reports that Manchester City are said to be interested, as the 2023 European champions seek to add a proven striker to compete with Erling Haaland next summer. A move to Juventus, however, appears unlikely.

Manchester City’s recent slump has them slipping to seventh in the Premier League standings, putting their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification in jeopardy. The focus now shifts to whether the club can agree to personal terms and potentially fast-track a move for David in January instead of waiting to secure him as a free agent.
