Manchester United's new manager, Ruben Amorim, is reportedly interested in signing Juventus defender and former Premier League winner Danilo in January, with the player said to be "on the verge of leaving" the club.
Amorim seems to favor many of his current Sporting Lisbon players, but he’s promised not to pursue any of them in January. With Danilo looking like a realistic option, he could be the first new addition in the winter.
The Red Devils have rolled the dice on veteran players recently, such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Raphaël Varane, but it's been a bag of mixed results. As a result, could this type of signings be different under the new Portuguese boss?
Danilo open to a move to a Premier League return
JuveLive reports that former Manchester City player Danilo might be on the move this winter. Amorim is reportedly eager to bring in the Juventus defender in January, as Danilo appears close to leaving his current club.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, Juventus may look to secure a transfer fee for the veteran while he remains a valuable contributor to the team.
Since joining Juventus in 2019, the Brazilian has made 207 appearances across all competitions. During his tenure with the Serie A side, the veteran has scored nine goals and recorded 13 assists.
This 2024-25 season, Danilo has made ten total appearances, racking up 428 minutes, so he's still a reliable player at his age. It will be interesting to see if Juventus does decide to part ways with the looming free agent or perhaps they keep him and accept that he'll walk away without receiving a transfer fee.
