Former Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has returned to the club as an executive. In this position, he will focus on building relationships with national and international football organizations.
Chiellini spent the majority of his club career at Juventus, where he played a key role in securing nine straight Serie A titles, five Coppa Italia trophies, and five domestic Supercups.
Moreover, the 40-year-old had success at the international level, representing Italy 117 times and captaining them to the UEFA Euro 2020 title when they beat England on penalties in the final at Wembley.
Chiellini retired from professional football in December and stepped into a new role as a player development coach with LAFC, the MLS team he joined in 2022 after leaving Juventus. Now, he's embarking on the next chapter of his career as an executive with the Turin-based club.
Gianluigi Buffon reacts to Giorgio Chiellini returning to Juventus
In the announcement, Juventus shared that Chiellini has always been connected to the club, even when he wasn't actively playing. His heart, soul, and values have remained with the Bianconeri, both on and off the field.
One of his former teammates at Juventus, Gianluigi Buffon, also reacted to Chiellini taking the executive role with the Turin-based side.
"I know you will continue to fight for the black and white colors even from behind the desk with the same determination you have always shown on the field," Buffon wrote in a message (h/t TuttoJuve). "Good luck, Giorgione. We are all with you!"
