Juventus' decision on Sergio Ramos transfer revealed in latest report
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is set to undergo surgery after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during the UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig, the club announced on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Brazilian was forced off just six minutes into Juve’s 3-2 win over Leipzig on Wednesday, with Federico Gatti replacing him.
According to Tuttosport, Juventus are now searching for a replacement, as Bremer’s knee injury has likely ended his season. Potential candidates include Maxence Lacroix, who joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg this summer, and Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, who has been on club chief Cristiano Giuntoli’s radar for some time.
The report also mentions that Juventus may consider recalling Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo. The young center-back has already featured for the first team and could provide a short-term solution.
Juventus eye a veteran free agent?
Another route that the Old Lady can take is the free agent market, and one veteran piques the interest of the Italian side. Tuttosport reports (h/t Bianconera News) that Sergio Ramos is a potential option for Juventus.
The Spanish defender has plenty of international experience, having won everything with Real Madrid and Spain, where he was a standout leader. But at 38, his age is a significant factor. Juventus reportedly aren't interested in signing the defender, who has been without a contract since leaving Sevilla this past summer.
For now, the Bianconeri seem content with their current squad and plan to address any needs during the January transfer window. This also rules out two other names that were considered alongside Ramos: Joël Matip, who is now a free agent after leaving Liverpool, and Simon Kjær, who recently parted ways with Milan.
