This past summer transfer window, Juventus sold Matias Soulé to AS Roma on a permanent €30 million transfer – including add-ons. Moreover, one former player believes that the 21-year-old still has a lot to improve.

Soulé spent his youth career at Vélez Sarsfield from 2015 to 2020 and left the Argentine side in 2020 for Juventus. In 2023-24, the young forward went on loan to play for Frosinone, making 39 appearances for the Italian side, scoring 11 goals and recording three assists.

Former Roma player expresses concerns on Matias Soulé

Despite this promising loan stint, Juventus opted to cash in on the player, selling him to Roma and taking the cash. While Soulé has the talent to be an impressive player, former Roma striker Roberto Pruzzo noted his concerns regarding the young player.

"Let it be clear, the boy has potential, he has skills and talent but he is not ready to take the team by the hand, even though I had the impression that in these early games they have wanted to give him this responsibility at all costs," Pruzzo explained in an interview with Il Messaggero (h/t Bianconera News). "He definitely needs to learn to be more selfless and to move better on the field."

Soulé has made three appearances for Roma so far this season and has yet to score or generate an assist. The Argentine has started all three contests while averaging 76 minutes per game. Maybe the FIFA international break did the player well, and he can rest to ensure that I Giallorossi didn't make a mistake with his transfer.
