Report: Juventus enter race for Chelsea, West Ham summer target with 87 goals at Lille
By Eduardo Razo
The summer transfer window has closed, but that doesn't mean the rumor mill isn't going. Moreover, clubs like Juventus have their eyes on 2025 as they're ready to bolster their attack with an eye on one specific player.
Juventus bolstered their wing play toward the final stages of the summer window with the arrivals of Francisco Conceição and Nicolás González. Nonetheless, the Old Lady could look at the No. 9 position to improve and give Dušan Vlahović competition.
Over the years, I Bianconeri was notorious for exploring the free agent market, and depending on the circumstances, they could do this next summer or perhaps pay a discounted fee in the January window.
Juventus look to France to bolster their goal-scoring
Vlahović scored 16 goals last season but has failed to score 20 or more goals for Juventus since arriving in 2022. The Serbia native scored 20-plus goals during the 2021-22 Serie A season, but that campaign was split between playing for Fiorentina and Juventus.
As a result, the Serie A side could be eyeing other strikers and la Repubblica (h/t TuttoJuve) reports that LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David is the object of desire of several teams and also of sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, who has identified him as the alternative to Vlahović.
David's contract expires next season with Lille, so it will be interesting to see whether the player extends his deal or departs next summer as a free agent. There's also the possibility that the Ligue 1 club sell him during the January window, especially if Juventus don't want to wait until next summer for the player.
This past summer window, the Canadian was linked to various clubs, such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and West Ham United, but no Premier League side made a move for him.
Since joining Lille in 2020, David has scored 87 goals in 190 appearances across all competitions.
