Sky Germany reports that Galatasaray is in talks to sign former Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, whose contract with AS Roman ends this season.
The 31-year-old Argentine has been identified as a potential replacement for Mauro Icardi, sidelined for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
While discussions with Dybala’s representatives are still in the early stages, there haven’t been any negotiations between Galatasaray and Roma yet. Dybala is reportedly open to a move to Turkey, with both a loan or a permanent transfer on the table.
Why is Paulo Dybala on the verge of leaving AS Roma?
Italian journalist Tony Damascelli spoke on Radio Radio and noted that the veteran attacking player has become a luxury rather than a necessity for Roma and their plans to turn their 2024-25 season around.
"When I hear about the Dybala problem, I can't help but think: really? It's now well known that Dybala is a luxury that Roma can no longer afford, but no other European team can afford him either," Damascelli said (h/t Calciomercato). "It's a shame because the guy knows how to play football, but his time is over."
Dybala moved to Roma from Juventus in July 2022 on a free transfer and has since scored 36 goals and provided 19 assists in 95 appearances for the club.
However, with Roma struggling this season, having earned just 16 points from 18 games, Dybala has also faced difficulties, managing only two goals in the same number of matches.
It will be interesting to see how this entire saga plays out and whether or not Dybala continues his career in Turkey or elsewhere.
