AC Milan's €40M-rated standout emerges as Juventus defensive target, per report
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is likely out for the rest of the 2024-25 season after a knee injury forced the 27-year-old off just six minutes into Juve's 3-2 UEFA Champions League win over Leipzig, with Federico Gatti coming on to replace him.
As a result, rumors are swirling about how Juventus will replace the player. According to a recent report from Calciomercato, the club might turn to a familiar face, someone manager Thiago Motta knows well, as a potential replacement for the injured Bremer in January.
The report notes that Dutch center-back Sam Beukema, who Motta highlighted at Bologna last season, has become a top target on the list recently given to sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Is Juventus keen on an AC Milan defender to bolster the defense?
Juventus could consider various defenders in Serie A as replacements for Bremer to avoid bringing in a player who needs time to adapt.
According to Paolo Paganini, Juventus has also set their sights on Fikayo Tomori from Milan as a reinforcement once the January window opens. The English defender, along with long-time target Jakub Kiwior, is reportedly among the names on the list to cover for Bremer's absence due to injury.
The 26-year-old has been with Milan since 2021 and is under contract until 2027. Moreover, the center-back has made 150 appearances for the San Siro side, scoring seven goals and recording one assist. As for how much the player could cost, Transfermarkt puts the player's transfer value at €40 million.
It will be interesting to see how Juventus replace Bremer and how much they're willing to spend to have that hole in their squad filled.
