Why Juventus pursuing former Inter Milan defender as Gleison Bremer's replacement makes sense

Juventus defender Gleison Bremer will likely miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after the 27-year-old Brazilian was forced off just six minutes into Juve's 3-2 UEFA Champions League win over Leipzig, with Federico Gatti coming on to replace him.

As a result, rumors of what the Old Lady will do to replace the player are swirling. Recently, Calciomercato reported that Juventus could turn to a familiar face, whom manager Thiago Motta knows, to replace the injured Bremer in January.

The report mentions that Dutch center-back Sam Beukema, who Motta highlighted at Bologna last season, is now a top target on the list recently handed to sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

Could Juventus go for a former Inter Milan defender?

Although the January transfer window is still a couple of months away, speculation is still ongoing regarding what the Turin-based side should do to compensate for the Brazilian's injury.

In an interview with TuttoJuve, former Juventus midfielder Massimo Bonini noted that he's open to the idea of Juventus pursuing former Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar to bolster the defense.

"Skriniar is an important defender, skilled, and he knows our league very well," Bonini told the outlet. "I think the management will make moves to improve the squad during the winter transfer window, and someone could also arrive in attack."

Skriniar isn't a starter at Paris Saint-Germain, and after being an undisputed starter at Inter Milan, the Slovakian could be open to a departure in January. Moreover, the player knows Serie A, so there wouldn't be too much of an adaptation period.
