Report: Everton and OM set to pursue Juventus outcast in January transfer window
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo doesn't appear to be part of Thiago Motta's plans as the 28-year-old has yet to make an appearance this 2024-25 season. Nonetheless, the Brazilian is drawing interest for the January window.
Melo has spent the last two seasons on loan at Liverpool and Fiorentina, but the player couldn't stick long-term. As a result, the midfielder, who is under contract until 2026, returned to Juventus and his camp will need to devise a plan to get the player out so he can play.
During his time with the Old Lady, Melo has made 63 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal and one assist, so a fresh start elsewhere would be ideal.
There are three clubs keen on Arthur Melo
Fichajes reports that Olympique de Marseille, Everton, and Fiorentina are three clubs keen on Merlo ahead of the January window.
OM, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, is the team showing the most interest in Merlo. Known for his attacking style, the Italian coach views Arthur as a crucial addition to his midfield.
Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s Everton is also keeping a close eye on the former Barcelona player. Despite his brief time in English football with Liverpool, the Goodison Park side is looking to strengthen its squad after a tough start to the season.
Finally, Fiorentina, which had already expressed interest in the summer, remains a strong option for the Brazilian. The recent injury to Rolando Mandragora has intensified the team’s need for reinforcement in that position. Moreover, a move to Florence would mark a second stint with the Italian club.
