This past summer, Juventus agreed to a €50 million fee for Aston Villa standout Douglas Luiz. However, the Serie A side could make a shocking decision when the January transfer window opens.

The 26-year-old began his career at his hometown club, Vasco da Gama, before signing a five-year deal with Manchester City in 2017. However, Luiz never made a first-team appearance for the cur Premier League champions.

Instead, he spent two seasons on loan at Girona before moving to Aston Villa in 2019, where he scored 20 goals in 175 appearances. After making his move to the Italian giants, much was expected of the Brazilian, but the transfer hasn't gone as planned.

Luiz has already missed four matches this 2024-25 season due to muscle fatigue and has failed to solidify himself as a starter for manager Thiago Motta. As a result, a new report could lead to a shocking decision from Juventus.

Calciomercato reports that Luiz could be heading back to Aston Villa on loan this January to rediscover his form. Having struggled for playing time at Juventus, Aston Villa wanted to complete Luiz's move before June 30 to meet their Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) obligations, and now they might get the player back a few months after selling him.

It will be interesting to see if a move to the Premier League side happens or if an injury pauses Juventus from offloading a player who could help with depth in the midfield. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what transpires with him in the next two months and whether this shocking move happens.
