Juventus attacking trio linked with Premier League

Kolo Muani, Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz have this week been rumoured by the Italian media to be highly prized by elite England clubs.

Juventus remain in the mix for a top four finish, which guarantees Champions League soccer next term, but should the club fail then there could be an exodus of strikers.

Muani is only a loanee, with the Paris Saint-Germain outcast looking lame since his fabulous start to life with the Turin titans.

The French international was a goal machine in his first three Serie A outings with five strikes, but was dismal in the Champions League and has been pretty poor for over a month.

When he arrived from the Ligue 1 champions he looked like a real bargain at the cost of €1 million (US$1.1m) for a five-month stint. He has been less than ordinary in recent displays, and has not found the back of the net for over a month.

Juve were initially keen to sign him in the summer, but their interest has started to wane and now Newcastle United have shown interest. The Magpies may need to fill the boots of sharp-shooter Alexander Isak, who is wanted by a clutch of teams including runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool, and Muani is on their shortlist.

Isak is valued at a whopping €200m (US$200.2m), but that’s overpriced even for Saudi Pro League clubs. Newcastle may drop their ridiculously high price tag, but they would surely prefer to sell their star striker to an overseas side rather than bolster the attack of a rival team like Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool.

If Isak makes a move then Muani is one of their serious options, and Newcastle could propose a straight loan deal without a buy option. That’s exactly what Juventus went for, but if the Bianconeri want Muani next term then an extension is likely to include an obligation to buy clause and he is already looking surplus to requirements.

Out-of-favour Dusan Vlahovic

Vlahovic has started just one Serie A match in 2025, having fallen down the pecking order and making way for Muani.

The club’s leading scorer this term turned down a highly lucrative deal in January to ply his trade in the Saudi Pro League. The Serbia striker has yet to enter talks with Juve to extend his contract beyond the end of the 2025/26 season.

Juventus would love to cash in on Vlahovic, who was offered to endless European teams including Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique de Marseille and Newcastle during the winter transfer window.

Manchester United are the latest Premier League side linked with Vlahovic. OId Trafford bosses are cost-cutting throughout the club, so it seems a highly unlikely destination as Vlahovic is the highest paid player in Serie A on a reported annual salary of €12m (US$13m).

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the 25-year-old, although he turned down the Londoners to join Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022.

Aston Villa and Inter Milan are monitoring his situation in Turin, and if he remains a bit player for the final 10 matches of the season then his value will continue to plummet from his January price tag of €80m (US$87m).

Kenan Yildiz seems overpriced

Yildiz has been touted as being the next soccer superstar by Jorges Mendez ever since the Portuguese superagent met the Turkish teenager’s parents in a Turin restaurant earlier this year.

Valued at an outrageous price of €90m (US$98m), and yet to prove himself at Juventus as Yildiz needs refining, there’s unlikely to be serious interest this summer.

Liverpool were mentioned in the Italian press as willing to offer big bucks for the 19-year-old, but the club would surely need a tried and tested attacker if they are going to fork out even half of his overinflated price tag.

All three strikers, before they can go to the negotiation table with Juventus or in the summer with another team, have the remainder of the Serie A 2024-25 season to try and shine.

Helping the side qualify for the Champions League is a priority, especially as head coach Thiago Motta is under immense pressure.

Motta is really feeling the heat, having made unceremonious exits in the Champions League and Coppa Italia as well as slipping up 4-0 at home to Atalanta in their last league outing.

Muani, Vlahovic and Yildiz could make a big difference to Juve’s fortunes at Fiorentina on Sunday, and for the remaining nine league games as the club pushes for precious points.

Tackling Fiorentina is a massive match for Motta, who could get the boot if Juventus return from Florence with zero points and slip out of the top four in Serie A.

Muani, Vlahovic and Yildiz could have a new manager before they tackle the 2025 Club World Cup in June and July. The prestigious tournament, to be held in the United States, offers the trio a perfect opportunity to put themselves in the shop window if fit and picked to play.

These strikers have been so inconsistent in a Juventus jersey this season, like the majority of their team-mates, that at the moment a potential summer move to the physically tough Premier League seem improbable.
