Juventus run into issues with defender targets to replace Gleison Bremer
By Eduardo Razo
The January transfer window presents Juventus with an opportunity to find a defender to help replace Gleison Bremer. Due to a cruciate ligament tear, Bremer is likely out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
With the window not opening for two more months, there will be rumors about potential targets that the Old Lady will pursue. In recent weeks, the two players who have sounded in the rumor mill have come from France and Brazil.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Škriniar has popped up as the former Inter Milan standout has been relegated to a backup role. Then there’s Flamengo defender Léo Ortiz could be an economic pursuit for Juventus if they don’t want to spend too much on a temporary solution.
Juventus face hurdles for two defenders to replace Gleison Bremer
TuttoJuve reports that Juventus are seriously looking into signing Škriniar this winter to compensate for Bremer’s extended absence. While no contact has been established between the two clubs yet, the Old Lady hope to arrange a loan deal and negotiate a portion of the Slovakian defender’s salary.
His playing time at PSG has significantly decreased, but it’s uncertain whether the club will agree to release him on favorable terms. TuttoJuve also report that the Serie A side have issues regarding Ortiz.
According to the Italian media outlet, the 28-year-old has been achieving outstanding results with his club, leading Flamengo to be reluctant to let him go easily.
They’re not considering a loan with an option to buy; instead, they’re asking for a straight transfer fee of €15 million. Given those figures, it seems unlikely that Juventus will pursue this deal.
