Juventus are reportedly setting their sights on defensive reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window, with one potential target already on their radar.
Although the summer transfer window brought in Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona, the club primarily focused on bolstering their midfield and adding depth to the wings. However, strengthening the center-back position remains a pressing need, as no major signings were made in that area during the summer.
Looking ahead, Juventus have begun exploring defensive options for the 2024-25 season. According to a September report from TuttoJuve, the club has been closely monitoring Feyenoord's Dávid Hancko as a possible solution to their defensive needs.
Tottenham are reportedly exploring several center-back options, with Hancko emerging as one of their top targets. As noted by TBRFootball, the club is searching for a left-sided defender to support Micky van de Ven, and Hancko might be available during the January transfer window.
Juventus have the edge in the transfer race for Dávid Hancko
As reported by (h/t Tutto Juve), recent talks between the defender and the Bianconeri have been promising, with pressure mounting on Feyenoord to approve the move. Juventus and Hancko have been in frequent contact, bringing the two sides closer than ever.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta have had their eye on Hancko for a while, convinced he’s the right fit for the team. Hancko doesn’t want to risk missing out on this opportunity and is pushing to switch to Turin at the start of the new year rather than waiting until summer.
Feyenoord value Hancko at around €30 million and isn’t known for offering discounts. Meanwhile, Juventus are working on a deal that involves a loan with an option to buy at a reduced fee in the summer.
