Juventus could be plotting to secure a veteran midfielder as a free agent next summer. Arsenal standout Thomas Partey can sign a pre-contract starting on January 1 with his contract expiring in June 2025.

However, the Serie A side aren't the club keen on securing Partey as a free agent next year. The 31-year-old has been with the Gunners since 2020 and has made 118 appearances across all competitions while scoring six goals and recording four assists.

Unless a contract extension is agreed to between now and December 31, the Ghana native could leave the London-based club as a free agent to continue his career elsewhere.

Is Juventus lining up an offer for Thomas Partey?

CaughtOffside reported on Sunday, citing sources, that Barcelona are eyeing Partey for a return to LaLiga, though Juventus seems to have the strongest interest. The report notes that Juventus are prepared to offer Partey a three-year contract.

Saudi Pro League clubs have been interested in Partey for a while now, and Al Hilal and Al Ahli are still watching him, according to CaughtOffside.

Although Partey is an important player for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, it seems unlikely that he’ll be offered a new contract for several reasons.

While he’s a tough player to replace, Arsenal has other midfield options and might not be eager to continue paying a player with a history of injuries for several more years.

Nonetheless, Juventus appears prepared to take that risk to secure a couple of prime football years left in Partey's career. It will be interesting to see if the Old Lady wins this race to beat Barcelona or a Saudi club.
