Juventus secured an impressive 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven at Allianz Stadium on Matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League's league phase.
The Old Lady scored three goals in the first 52 minutes, which was enough to secure the win over the Dutch side. Kenan Yıldız opened the scoring with a strike in the 21st minute, giving Juventus the lead and the Serie A side didn't look back.
Afterward, Weston McKennie scored in the 27th minute to give the home side a 2-0 advantage. Nicolás González added a goal in the 52nd minute, allowing Thiago Motta and his team to take a 3-0 lead. PSV scored in the second half stoppage time, but it was too little too late.
Kenan Yıldız makes Juventus history
Nonetheless, the world-clas strike from Yıldız made history at Juventus. OptaPaolo spotlighted on X that at just 19 years and 136 days old, Yildiz has now become the youngest player to score for Juventus in the Champions League.
Yildiz surpasses Alessandro Del Piero, who was 20 years and 308 days old when he scored against Borussia Dortmund on September 13, 1995.
After the match, the teenager spoke postgame to the media and reacted to being in the same conversation as Del Piero since he surpassed the Juventus legend's record.
"I was pretty nervous before because I’m so proud whenever I see him," Yıldız said following the win (h/t TuttoJuve). "We always aim to play well. We didn’t want to concede a goal, but that's football. Overall, we did well, so we need to keep it up."
