Arsenal have Juve-linked player as top alternative target to RB Leipzig star, report says
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus could be looking to bolster their No. 9 position next summer as they’re one of the clubs keen on LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David. However, the Old Lady face competition for the pending free agent.
David’s contract with the Ligue 1 side expires in June 2025, so it’s no surprise that the Canadian is drawing interest as teams would only need to worry about his wages and no transfer fee.
Since joining Lille in 2020, David has netted 87 goals in 190 appearances across all competitions. Rumors suggest that Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are among the teams vying for the player.
Jonathan David is Arsenal’s alternative target
The latest information on David comes from CaughtOffside, who reported on Tuesday, citing sources, that Arsenal have David high on their list of targets as they continue to look for options to boost their attack.
Moreover, the report reveals that Arsenal’s top priority is still Benjamin Šeško. However, the RB Leipzig striker is expected to draw interest from many Premier League clubs and other European teams next summer.
CaughtOffside also reported, citing sources, that David’s potential move to Juventus could free up Dušan Vlahović to leave the club. Nonetheless, it remains unclear if Arsenal, who have shown interest in the Serbian striker in the past, are still considering a move for him.
Vlahović hasn’t quite hit his stride with Juventus, so David could be a solid upgrade. However, it’ll be interesting to see if Serie A can attract the 24-year-old as much as the Premier League, especially with the added appeal of living in London.
