13 Juventus players up for grabs in the summer

With Project Motta over, and the Turin titans having to pay their sacked head coach until his contract ends in June 2027, the club may be forced to sell some of their squad.

Although Juventus are Italian giants they have no main sponsorship deal in place, missed out on the second half of Champions League soccer and are not guaranteed European action next season. They also have to fork out Motta's salary unless he joins a new club.

To get their finances sorted they may have to offload some players, with a plethora of top teams monitoring Juve’s situation in order to bag themselves a bargain. Although the Bianconeri have made it clear that they are not keen on selling attacker Samuel Mbangula on the cheap.

Shotstopper Michele Di Gregorio, who snubbed a move to Liverpool last summer in favour of joining Juventus, is on Manchester City’s shopping list. Yet the former Inter Milan youth academy star is yet to become a fully-fledged Juventus player, as he is only on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy.

Goalkeeper

Carlo Pinsoglio (Italy)

Generally a third-choice shotstopper for Juve, and rarely features between the sticks for the club. Signed a contract extension last September, and the 35-year-old will not command big bucks should he move club.

Joined: Came through youth academy and rejoined in June 2014 from Vicenza

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Serie B

Defenders

Andrea Cambiaso (Italy)

Suffered ankle problems during his career at Genoa and last year against Bologna for the Bianconeri. His injury setbacks put off Manchester City’s interest in the January transfer window, although he remains high on the Premier League champions’ summer transfer wishlist. The left-back extended his contract in May until 2029.

Joined: July 2022 from Genoa

Contract ends: June 2029

Next likely destination: Premier League

Tiago Djalo (Portugal)

His only appearance for Juventus was for 16 minutes against Monza last May, and he was deemed surplus to requirements under Motta. Came close to joining AS Roma, only for the Giallorossi to call off the deadline day deal in August. On a season-long loan with Porto FC, and not recalled when there was a defensive injury crisis at Juve.

Joined: January 2024 from Lille

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Liga Portugal

Federico Gatti (Italy)

Although he seems settled with the Turin titans, who would like him to commit by extending his contract, he may be used as leverage in a part-cash exchange deal with a number of clubs. His €25m (US$27.2m) price tag would be a bargain buy for interested clubs.

Joined: January 2022 from Frosinone

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Premier League or Serie A

Daniele Rugani (Italy)

A forgotten man, and unwanted by Motta despite being able to play as center-back or full-back. Extended his contract until next year to spread his salary for financial reasons. On loan at Dutch top-flight leaders Ajax, where he is likely to remain or move to one of their rivals.

Joined: Came through youth academy

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Eredivisie

Midfielders

Filip Kostic (Serbia)

Veteran boasts creativity and pace on the left flank as either a midfielder, wing-back or left winger. On loan in Turkey’s Supa Lig with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce given the option to buy him at the end of the season for €6 million (US$6.5m).

Joined: August 2022 from Eintracht Frankfurt

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: German Bundesliga or Supa Lig

Douglas Luiz (Brazil)

A spate of injuries has resulted in just 15 games since his arrival last June. Rejected by Manchester City, Luiz was a shining star at Aston Villa but times have been tough with the Italian giants as he has yet to adapt. Premier League clubs are being lined up for a big bucks summer move for Juve to replenish their outlay.

Joined: July 2024 from Aston Villa

Contract ends: June 2029

Next likely destination: Premier League

Weston McKennie (USA)

Versatile and a regular starter this term, including stints as skipper, with two goals from 23 league games. Comfortable as an attacking midfielder, in central midfield as a whizzy wing-back.

Joined: August 2020, initially on loan from Schalke 04

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Premier League

Luca Pellegrini (Italy)

Has only played 18 games for Juventus, his last outing three seasons ago, as the left-back/left wing-back has been constantly loaned out. Joined Lazio on a two-year loan, with a conditional obligation to buy, in August 2023. Yet Lazio head coach Marco Baroni left him out of his Serie A and Europa League squads in February, meaning that the obligation clause in the contract to purchase Pellegrini will not be triggered.

Joined: June 2019 from AS Roma

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Serie A

Nicolo Rovella (Italy)

Made just three Juve appearances and, like Pellegrini, moved to Lazio on a two-year loan with a conditional obligation to buy in August 2023. The defensive midfielder seems set to stay at Lazio, who would have to fork out at least €20 (US$21.3m).

Joined: January 2021 from Genoa

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Serie A

Strikers

Arkadiusz Milik (Poland)

Injury-ravaged career has disrupted his minutes at Juventus. The 31-year-old had a major knee problem during international duty last June, and at the turn of the year suffered a calf injury although is now fully fit but just not match fit.

Joined: August 2022, initially on loan from Olympique de Marseille

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Serie A

Kenan Yildiz (Turkey)

Since being touted as a future superstar by super agent Jorges Mendez, the 19-year-old is rumoured to be attracting top English clubs. Yet to explode on the scene at Juve, but with Tudor at the helm could get his chance to impress. Extended his contract last August until 2029.

Joined: Came through Juventus Next Gen

Contract ends: June 2029

Next likely destination: Premier League

Dusan Vlahovic (Serbia)

Serie A’s highest-paid player should be given his chance to shine under interim head coach Igor Tudor, who is an avid fan of the hot-shot since their time together at Hellas Verona. His winter price tag plummeted like crazy after being constantly benched by Motta, but should climb dramatically if his shooting skills are unleashed for the last nine league games.

Joined: January 2022, from Fiorentina

Contract ends: June 2026

Next likely destination: Premier League
