Former Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo could be ready to swap clubs in Saudi Arabia. The veteran forward left European football in 2022 after his stint with Manchester United ended and joined Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo was one of the first big-name footballers to move to Saudi Arabia, where the country is attempting to grow its league and become one of the best outside of Europe.
Al Nassr announced that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will join the club on a contract through 2025, though the financial details have not been disclosed. Ronaldo’s deal is estimated to be worth over €200 million ($214.5 million), per Al Jazeera.
Will Cristiano Ronaldo be switching clubs?
With the Portugal international nearing free agency, Action Ma3 Waleed (h/t Bianconera News) reports that Al-Hilal are growing frustrated with Neymar's persistent injury issues. After recently returning, he’s already sidelined again due to another problem.
As a result, the Brazilian forward could be surprisingly "let go" in January to make room for a new star signing. And the name being floated is Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 39-year-old, who reinvented himself in Saudi Arabia, has been nothing short of impressive. Since joining, he has scored 41 goals in 45 matches. It’s possible he could once again dominate the Saudi market.
Still, it's only a rumor and it will be interesting to see whether Cristiano Ronaldo wants to stay in Saudi Arabia or whether he wants to play in another league. Could a move to MLS or return to Europe be in the fold for the standout to close out his football career?
