Barcelona ready to disrupt Juventus' pursuit of Man Utd transfer target
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus are reportedly eyeing a new No. 9 for next summer, with LOSC Lille's Jonathan David among their top targets. However, landing the Canadian striker could be a tough challenge.
According to a recent report from TuttoJuve, David has outlined his financial terms for a potential free transfer, demanding €6 million per season and a €10 million commission for his agent.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport suggests that Juventus are ready to offer David a five-year deal worth at least €5 million annually, plus a €7 million commission for his agent.
The same outlet also reveals that Manchester United have entered the race for David, with Liverpool and Arsenal also expressing strong interest in the striker.
Barcelona prepared to spoil Juventus' plans
According to TuttoJuve, Juventus may not be the front-runner for David’s transfer in June. Still, they could act sooner and make a move this winter to avoid being outbid by other European clubs, including the one he’s supported since childhood.
The Old Lady are reportedly willing to offer around €20 million to secure the striker. LOSC would benefit from this, recovering part of the €27 million they paid La Gantoise in 2020.
However, FC Barcelona could still complicate things by offering David a higher salary and signing bonus in June, leveraging his long-standing admiration for the club, per the report.
Barcelona have Robert Lewandowski, but the Poland international is in the latter stages of his career. As a result, the Spanish side need a long-term replacement.
The Ligue 1 side are set to lose David on a free transfer in June unless they decide to sell him in the winter window, considering the Canadian can begin talks over a pre-contract with any club.
