Revealed: Juventus willing to pay big for Arsenal, Tottenham target
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus are reportedly in the market for a new No. 9 next summer, with LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David among their top targets. However, their pursuit of the Canadian striker may face complications.
According to a recent report from TuttoJuve, the 24-year-old has set his financial expectations for a potential free-agent move. David is seeking a salary of €6 million per season, along with a €10 million commission for his agent.
David has been a standout for Lille since joining in 2020, scoring 97 goals in 201 appearances across all competitions. The forward has also attracted interest from other clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United.
What are Juventus offering to Jonathan David in wages?
Lille are set to lose David on a free transfer in June, and if they decide to sell him in the winter window, they’d be open to a deal for around €20 million. However, Juventus and Inter have a big hurdle to overcome—they don’t currently have available slots to register non-EU players, so they'll have to hold off on their approach until next summer.
There's a real risk that top Premier League clubs could enter the race for the Canadian forward, with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool posing serious threats to the Italian sides.
Still, Giuntoli, regardless of Vlahovic’s renewal, is reportedly determined not to let David slip away and is quietly working to secure the 24-year-old striker for June. According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are ready to put a five-year contract on the table for the Lille striker, offering at least €5 million per season plus a commission of around €7 million.
This is a significant investment, despite David's potential free-agent status in the summer, with the clear aim of staying ahead of Europe’s top clubs in the race.
