Juventus are reportedly targeting a new No. 9 next summer, with LOSC Lille's Jonathan David high on their list of potential signings. However, securing the Canadian striker could prove challenging.
A recent report from TuttoJuve reveals that David has set his financial demands for a potential move as a free agent. He is seeking a salary of €6 million per season, along with a €10 million commission for his agent.
As recently reported by Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are prepared to offer Lille’s striker a five-year contract worth at least €5 million per season, plus a commission of around €7 million.
It’s a considerable investment, especially with David’s potential free-agent status this summer, but Juventus are keen to stay ahead of Europe’s top clubs in the race for his signature.
Juventus face another threat in Jonathan David race
Corriere dello Sport reports that Manchester United are joining the race to sign David on a free transfer, with Liverpool and Arsenal also showing strong interest in the striker.
Lille are set to lose David on a free transfer in June unless they decide to sell him in the winter window, considering the Canadian can begin talks over a pre-contract with any club.
Juventus will probably push to secure the player for free, but perhaps a Premier League side could present a fee and secure him before he ever tests the free agent market, which would be terrible news for the Serie A club.
Since joining Lille in 2020, David has been a standout performer, netting 97 goals in 201 appearances across all competitions. The forward has also drawn interest from several other clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.
