Juventus could be looking to bolster their No. 9 position next summer, with LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David reportedly on their radar. Nonetheless, one journalist believes it's still early to determine who will win the race for the Canadian.

According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the 24-year-old has decided against renewing his contract with Lille. In his recent column for Caught Offside, Moretto noted that Inter Milan has made significant strides in pursuing David, but the competition remains fierce.

David, who joined Lille in 2020, has scored 87 goals in 190 appearances across all competitions. Last month, reports linked Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham, and Newcastle United as possible contenders for his signature.

Where do Juventus and Inter Milan stand on Jonathan David

The Lille standout can sign a pre-contract with any club beginning in January, so the next few months will be key to determining which side is positioning itself to land the player.

Internews24.com journalist Paolo Bargiggia provided the latest on the two Serie A clubs as they look to put themselves in pole position to land a quality player as a free agent. Nonetheless, it's still early in this file to determine who has the advantage right now.

"Inter has been keeping an eye on Jonathan David for a while now, as he’s not planning to renew his contract with Lille, which runs until 2025," Bargiggia noted (h/t Bianconera News).

"Juventus is also showing some interest. However, I don’t think it’s a situation to watch closely just yet, as things are still in the early stages. We'll have a clearer picture down the line."
