With the Juventus Ultras already having led a recent two-day protest, the 4-0 home thrashing by Atalanta has seen a backlash. They are abandoning their support for their beloved team this weekend.
Although there were concerns that Sunday’s clash could be postponed, due to adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall in Florence, the game will be played and is not the reason behind the lack of Juventus fans travelling to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Juventus are desperately fighting for a top four league finish to qualify for the Champions, which has exerted pressure on head coach Thiago Motta.
He has been heavily criticized by fans, former players and the media after Juve were unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League and Coppa Italia in quick succession. Although he went on record before the Fiorentina tussle to state that the club have faith in his three-year project.
Juventus Ultras posted on Instagram: “At home, the silence will be louder than ever. And away in Florence, we won’t be there because you don’t deserve us.
“There are no more words to describe this disgrace! You will never have us the way you want! We are Juventus.”
Many home fans left the Allianz Stadium after Juventus transfer target Ademola Lookman made it 4-0 after 77 minutes.
Those who stayed then started a string of insults towards the underperforming Bianconeri, and at the full-time whistle there were jeers and boos ringing around the Allianz Stadium.
At least Motta and his players will not have to suffer the same sort of humiliation in person from Juventus Ultras when they tackle Fiorentina.
