The final week of the summer transfer window is here, and Juventus will reportedly look to continue bolstering their attack following the arrival of Nicolás González from Fiorentina on Sunday.

Among the rumored targets linked to the Old Lady is Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho. Last week, journalist Gianluca DiMarzio reported that the Serie A club are considering a loan deal with an obligatory purchase option set at £40 million under specific conditions.

However, Di Marzio does note that the Englishman’s €20 million gross salary is a substantial hurdle. Sancho spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he helped the German club reach the UEFA Champions League final.

Despite losing the final to Real Madrid, Sancho appeared to rediscover his past form. However, the question is whether his performance during the loan stint with the German side can cause any team, such as Juventus, to pull the trigger on the move.

Is Sancho’s salary a sticking point for Juventus?

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in his latest column for CaughtOffside that what’s keeping Juventus from pursuing a deal with the Red Devils over the 24-year-old is the player’s current wages.

“For Juventus, obviously, the formula has to be a different kind of formula compared to what Manchester United wanted,” Romano wrote in his column. “Manchester United were thinking of a permanent transfer, but Juventus will not do a permanent deal in the final days, so it has to be a loan with a buy option clause with the salary to be discussed.

“That’s because Juventus will not cover the entire salary of Jadon Sancho, so that exchange is still ongoing. Let’s see what Juventus will decide to do. In general, the Sancho situation is still open because he could leave Man United – and the reason why Sancho was not in the squad is that he’s also open to leaving Man United.”

It will be interesting to follow these next few days to determine if the two teams find common ground and work out a formula that keeps all parties involved happy.
