Nicolás González officially joined Juventus on Sunday, and the Argentine arrived to bolster the team’s attack for the 2024-25 season. The forward shared his first words as a new player for the Old Lady and outlined his mentality.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported last Saturday that Juventus will pay a package of €38 million add-ons included and will sign a long-term deal. This sum was enough for Fiorentina to give the green light and sell the 26-year-old to their Serie A rival.
González joined Fiorentina in 2021 and has appeared in 125 matches across all competitions for the Italian side, scoring 38 goals and registering 19 assists.
The two-time Copa América winner is entering the prime years of his football career, so if this move to Turin works out, Juventus will be getting the player’s most productive years.
González: 'I came here to win'
On Sunday, Juventus published González’s first words as a new member of the team, in which he revealed the joy of joining I Bianconeri. Moreover, the forward noted the mindset and characteristics that he will be bringing to the squad, as Turin is his new home.
“I’m really happy to be wearing this jersey," González told Juventus' official website (h/t TuttoJuve). "It was a dream for both me and my family, and I couldn’t be more thrilled...
"Dribbling and shooting at goal are my strengths. I'm also really good in the air, so let's see if I can score a few goals that way... I came here to win. There's no other option—it's all about winning. I'll do everything I can to make that happen."
