With pressure continuing to mount on the former Bologna boss, who joined the Bianconeri on a three-year deal last summer to implement Project Motta, the past two Serie A matches have seen his side produce insipid displays.

The season stuttered along with too many draws to leave Juve out of the race to win the league, and heavy back-to-back defeats in March have resulted in the club's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli taking over press conference duties.

Giuntoli admitted that the club are "very unhappy" with the current Serie A situation, with the priority being to qualify for next season's Champions League. Juventus sit fifth, behind Motta's former team Bologna, with nine games remaining.

Here’s how former Italy midfielder Motta has fared over the past eight months.

April and May 2025

With nine Serie A matches remaining for Juventus to seal a top four finish, which guarantees a Champions League place next term, the onus is on Motta to stop the rot.

The defence is dismal, Motta's formation and choice of players are highly questionable and the strikeforce is virtually non-existent. Fuming fans and the Juventus board have high expectations for the club, Motta has to mastermind a revival or potentially face being axed.
